Re: Activation problem

Hi Blaatand,

Can't click on what? The popups?

Click start, go to Help and Support, type 'activation' in the search box,
one of the options will be to 'activate this computer'.

By the by, you do understand that the beta trial version you have is not
going to run forever, it is time limited and you will eventually need to
either upgrade to the release version or go back to a different operating
system. The license is not in perpetuity.

Re: Activation problem

Thanks Roger,

The thing that is not working is the link...., and of course I know that
windows beta is not going to work forever, but i think/believe if I can´t
get it in the shops yet, then I should be using it untill I can buy it.

I hope that is what the micro people are thinking, if not i´m in really
trouble.. (

By the way thank you for your rapid respons, I´m from Spain I apreciate it.

Re: Activation problem

Hi Blaatand,

I don't know that they've taken down the activation server for the
prerelease versions at this point, but it is possible. Then again, it's
entirely possible that the activation server may just be down temporarily
and won't be back until someone comes in on Monday and fixes it. Sorry that
I don't have a better answer for you, and though I do agree with you that
they should leave it up until the public release of the RTM version, they
are under no obligation to. Once a product goes into final code, the beta
builds are considered defunct.

Re: Activation problem

Good discussion.

I have used 5600, both x32 and x64 and have never been able to activate by
the online route. Also, on two occasions with x64 the 'activation passed'
has dropped and had to reactivate again. Betas, essentially, remember.

Use the phone route. On the page where you are invited to activate online,
check 'route by phone' and use the 800 number. Have never had a problem
activating that way.
