Finding Vista Ultimate Released Version

You know I love Microsoft and I didn't expect them to give me the software for trying it out, but it does irritate me that a month after it is finalized, I still cannot find a copy.

They should have at least sent those of us to participated in the Customer Preview Program the final DVD with a 60-90 day trial and an opportunity to pay for a license. It isn't like Microsoft to leave us hanging so.

I used to be a member of MSDN and TechNet but found I didn't really use it.

RE: Finding Vista Ultimate Released Version

Good point, Steve. The CPP versions were basically a gift for $10 or so, so
it is hard to complain. However, RC1 was a piece of junk, and with RC2
coming so close behind, it would have been "nice" to see us receive RC2
instead of RC1. No real hard feeling, though, as it was great to use whatever
they sent for the price of two coffees.

Re: Finding Vista Ultimate Released Version

After RC2 they pulled that from online and put RC1 back...

They had stated that RC2 was not "tested" as much as RC1

However RC1 RC2 and RTM are all crap by design.

Re: Finding Vista Ultimate Released Version

I was part of the CPP program. I received multiple e-mail messages telling
me how important my feedback was, and that they needed me to provide valuable
feedback. I sent in many bug reports. I genuinely helped Micro$oft because
they asked me. And yet, I am not even given a trial version of Vi$ta RTM to
try until January the 30th when its released. The right thing to do would've
been to give a free copy to anyone who submitted a bug report that helped
them out. Hey, I'll take a 90 day trial. By then, I would at least be able
to buy a copy. The incredible LOSERS (with a capital 'L') have missed out on
the Christmas buying season. Its hard to believe that they won't be
releasing it for Christmas. What a letdown. I feel like I've been violated
somehow. As a PC enthusiast, I am unhappy, and depressed by it all. I'll
still buy an upgrade to Vista ultimate. I just upgraded my dual Xeon to 3.4
GHz processors, 512 MB video card, and 4 Gigs of high speed RAM.
I can't help but feel that somehow Micro$soft will regret missing out on the
CHristmas buying season. Someone, somewhere in that company is a PINHEAD.

You feel violated because you did not profit in some way from choosing to
participate in a public beta? Get a grip. Oh, and I won't bother to bore
everyone in this group with my opinion of the people who substitute the 'S'
in MS related brands with the dollar sign. Sigh.

Re: Finding Vista Ultimate Released Version

They pulled RC2 back when they had the desired quota of downloads (100,000).
It was a limited release by design.

Re: Finding Vista Ultimate Released Version

So far it has not been released to the general public. MSDN and TechNet
users have access to use it according to the terms of their license, and
business users have the business editions. But there has, as of yet, been
no public release of the final versions so there would clearly be no trial
copies.
