installation error

Hi, I'm having problems installing RC1 on my laptop. I'm getting an error
telling me that the install needs to restart because windows cannot
re-initialize the deployment engine. i keep trying it over and over but the
error message keeps coming up before it installs anything. Here are the
specs on my computer:

Gateway m275 laptop
1.8GHz processor
1gb ram
40 GB hard drive, unpartitioned

any help is appreciated

Re: installation error

I suggest that you also post this to
microsoft.public.windows.vista.installation_setup. The experts on setup
hang out there.

Re: installation error

Getchel--

This error sounds an awful lot like what Rick Rodgers suggested, but in
checking your space, make sure that you have at least 350GB of free space on
the C:\ drive if you are installing to another drive on your HD and enough
space on the target drive you are using for setup.

Outside that, the most common reason for problems with Vista setup is the
integrity of the burn.

Of course if you are using a DVD MSFT sent you, then a burn problem would be
ruled out.

Re: installation error

I actually formatted the hard drive so the whole thing is free and
unpartitioned, and I am using the dvd that microsoft sent me
