Vista - 1 gb Flash Drive (USB and SD) -- no drivers found

I have a Compaq nc8430 I have loaded Vista Ultimate RTM and it will not load
the drivers for my usb flash drives . Any that I have tried. In addition the
pc will occassionally blue screen.( I should have written the error code down
but forgot to. I'm sure I will try to load this again and get the same error.
If that is the case I will update this post) Also having issues with my SD
card as well. The SD card shows up in Disk Management tool occassionally but
doesn't show in My Computer. I thought possible a drive letter conflict but
when you try to change the letter it errors out. Also I tried to reformat and
it errors as well. (I tried to check for the error message but as of this
post the disk is not showing.) Has anyone had any luck with this pc and
vista? And if so was there a solution?
