Sony vaio support and vista!!!

Hi all,
today i receive this answer from sony vaio support about a problem with my
new notebook and windows vista:
"No support for windows vista, call Microsoft".

Afeter some times the system halt and if i "hibernate" the system after
reboot i get this error: "ACPI .... Upgrade your bios".

Model: sony vaio bx397xp (Windows vista premium ready!!!)

I think the problem is compatibility hardware and no windows vista.
Thanks
Giovanni

So, Sony stated their product is "Vista ready", and now they refuse to
address your issue?
I'd be calling Sony, and escalating the problem until a proper response was
received.

Re: Sony vaio support and vista!!!

The only workaround to this is to disable hibernation in your power
management. Once you tell it to never hibernate, it won't. Not a very good
workaround for a laptop, though. Terrible in fact.

I have a Vaio, and have discovered how bad their support is. I won't be
buying another one, and I certainly don't recommend Vaio's anymore.
Someone at Sony really needs shooting for all their gaffes recently..

Vista Ready just means it meets the appropriate hardware specs.
The fact that Vista is NOT currently a RETAIL operating systems -
means that Sony are quite within their rights to not support it YET.
Once Vista ships to the general public and Sony launch their Express
Upgrade (worldwide) they will also be releasing the appropriate
drivers and other patches (firmware etc) for their models that are
Vista ready.

As an aside to this I have just installed Vista on a new Sony FE
series laptop and it functions perfectly - I only had to hack the inf
to get the video card divers to load.
So before we all start jumping up and down about their end user
customer facing support remember that as regards regular end user (not
corporates or developers) Vista is still not a shipping product

Re: Sony vaio support and vista!!!

for : Mike Brannigan.
The notebook are "Windows vista premium ready".
Can you explain us whot is "READY"?
For me is Ready NOW!!!

I know that on other notebook like ar21s vista works... problem with some
driver (i do like you do for nvidia driver) .
For me sony MUST give support NOW for all computer that have the
certification "Vista ready" and not tell that the problem is "Microsoft
problem" this is not correct!!!

For nancy:
Thanks for your answer. I try it but nothing... the system halt without error.

Thanks all
Giovanni

Re: Sony vaio support and vista!!!

I just bought a Vaio FE41S, and found out that the MotionEye Camera doesn't
work even when I've updated Windows Visa and installed the Vaio Capture
Utility, it's frustrating not to be able to actually use what you have paid
for. Any help would be very appreciated, I'm not an expert user... as you can
imagine.

Re: Sony vaio support and vista!!!

Visit the Sony web site for updated drivers. I see they have added many new
drivers.
