Remove desktop sort?

Hi,

I can't remove all sort from my Vista desktop. WHen I reorder icons, as soon
as I right click and choose refresh, they reorder according to name (or
whatever was the last sort by choice). Once I log off and back on, nothing is
selected in this menu but it still performs this sort. If I uncheck auto
arrange, it won't resort, but I like autoarrange. Has anyone encountered
this? Where does windows store the desktop sort preferences? I'd like to try
wiping out the value.

Thanks...

-Ben

Re: Remove desktop sort?

Remove any checks from the top area, above auto arrange.

Re: Remove desktop sort?

Hi Richard,

Above the auto arrange (in the view menu) are only the three different modes
for displaying icons (classic, medium, large) and clicking again on classic
doens't remove it. Is this what you meant?

When I log in (or refresh), it sorts by name, but when I right click and
choose sort by, nothing is selected.
