| | Re: Major Problem with Live Messenger UpDate 12-15-06 OpeXp, Do you have the latest Adobe flashplayer installed? flash was giving messenger fits, as there was an issue with it, you can always get the newest one at www.adobe.com if that's not the issue, look into DEP itself, Control Panel\System and Maintenance\System>system protection(on the left side-in blue/green panel) advanced tab>performance>settings>DEP tab, and look in there. I have it set to : "Turn off DEP for essential Windows programs and services only" if that's not it, don't know havin no problems, here Jeff "OpeXp" <OpeXp@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:7EFA0BFD-5D2C-41EF-8AD5-65C8A5C2DF40@microsoft.com... >I keep getting the messenger notice of a new version and everytime it > installs (twice) I get : > > Data Execation Preve tion and it closes messenger ???? > > This happening to anybody else??? > Op |

| | Re: Major Problem with Live Messenger UpDate 12-15-06 Try going to the System control panel, selecting Advanced System Settings, and then click Settings under Performance. You'll see a tab for Data Execution Prevention. Try turning it off. | | Re: Major Problem with Live Messenger UpDate 12-15-06 No problem with messenger here (though I don't use it, it does start and logon silently) Personally I would not turn off DEP. Why don't you go to the messenger website and download the latest version and install it from the desktop or wherever you download it to.
