| | What happens in Vista if . . . Vista and long file names . . . What happens in Vista if you have a file with path and file name longer than permitted, and then you try to access that file? In XP, it doesn't do anything, (no access, no error message, no nothing) and you can't even get properties on the file. But what happens in Vista? Will it issue the appropriate error message? Will it advise you to move some of the "tree" to a lower position? Will it fire up a wizard to assist you? What will it do? Thanks, - Stan |

| | Re: What happens in Vista if . . . First of all, how are you creating file + path combinations that are greater than the 260 character limit? Both XP and Vista have that limitation. In Vista, if I try to move a file to a path which would make the path + file combination greater than the limit, I get a "Destination Path Too Long" dialog box pop up.
