Um, I don't trust a study that only relies on only some web sites and
doesn't even say which web sites they used for the study. What site did
they use, microsoft.com?

http://technology.timesonline.co.uk/...503196,00.html

Another report that says, and I quote:

"An early test version of the new version of the browser, Firefox 3.0,
was unveiled this week to developers under the codename Gran Paradiso.
Its release follows a report showing that Firefox accounts for 20 per
cent of the browser market across Europe and as much as 40 per cent in
some countries."

> You'r welcome...

Course, if you remove the UK and only count the continent, the figure is
higher.

Also, IE7 hasn't been fully released in Europe. It was removed from auto
updates. So, when IE7 is fully deployed, FF's figures will go up
dramatically.

I tried ie7, dumped it because of all the bugs, installed opera instead, now
no problems.
I tried wmp11, what a bloated load of bug ridden crap, dumped it and
installed winamp, now no problems.
I tried vista rc2, didn't work, loads of eye candy and no substance, what a
complete waste of time, dumped it, will continue to use xp as it is without
doubt the better OS.
I can understand why Bill has quietly walked away.

08 December 2006
ACCORDING TO research carried out by French firm Xiti Monitor, use of the Firefox browser
continues to grow in Europe.
Since April this year, the geeky alternative to Microsoft's Internet Explorer gained an extra
four percent of the market across the continent.

According to Xiti's research, the browser is now used by some 23.2 per cent of European PC web
surfers - up from 19.4% in April.

Re: Vista Won't End Windows XP Availability

Eh, he showed the world he was a troll when spouted that ignorant and
incorrect info about the war.

Anyway, I'll provide some proof myself:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Usage_s...f_web_browsers
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:L...sage_share.svg

These are world wide statistics. I can't find anything relating to Europe
only. I guess no one cares. In the graph you'll note the teeny tiny
little orange slice. That would be MANY browsers put together. Too bad
they didn't split them up so we could see just how small firefox is itself.

I rolled out IE7 to over 300 users. The ONLY problem I had was a handful of
people that, by default, didn't have tabs. After I got them turned on all
was well. Not a single issue was raised from the upgrade.

I like how he "needs" to use American fascism in a pathetic attempt to
discredit a large percentage of the IE numbers shown in that chart. Even
though in a world wide snapshot of internet usage, America is no where near
the leader in internet usage.

http://www.internetworldstats.com/stats.htm

Europe is the second leader in internet usage so a large portion of those
browser numbers are coming from Europe (and Asia). So again he has egg all
over his face as his 40% firefox BS stat can't possibly be close to the
truth with these FACTUAL numbers. In other words, his tie between American
"sheep" being the cause of high IE stats is 100% dead in the water.

What's funny is I didn't even have to get into all the BS with Europe and
their Anti-MS campaign. Even with Europe being a MS hater they still
support IE more then any other browser. Enjoy your N version of Vista! We
all know you'll be using it when a bad-ass DX10 game comes out that you
absolutely must play.

Baaaahhhhhh

So, you add the people who don't go to the sites tested and what do you
get? Maybe I exaggerated a tad (It's fun to watch the MS fanbois have
sissy fits) but it'll be over 40% before the end of 07 and, according to
the study you cite, some countries in Europe already are. IE 7 will make
sure of that, as will Fire Fox 3.0.
