collecting Crash dump on vista

Hi,

I would like to collect application crash dump for analysis. I am not able
to find drwtsn32.exe to enable it as default debugger. I am familiar with
crash dump analysis on XP. I see that same does not work on Vista.1. Can any
one please tell me how can i collect crash dump for my analysis?

2. Is it that drwtsn32.exe is no longer available in vista?

Thanks in advance,

Praveen

Re: collecting Crash dump on vista

Dr. Watson, the system failure (or crash) analysis took, has been replaced
with Solutions to Problems in Control Panel. This feature helps you check
for solutions to common problems that cause Windows or your programs to stop
working. If a solution is available, it shows you steps you can take to
solve the problem.

You can have Windows automatically report problems and check for solutions
or you can choose to check for a solution whenever a problem occurs. Problem
descriptions and solutions are saved, so you can view them at any time in
Solutions to Problems.

Re: collecting Crash dump on vista

Praveen,

You can also create a dump using Task Manager (taskmgr.exe). Right click any
process/app listed and select Create Dump File.

Re: collecting Crash dump on vista

crash dump files are stills stored on the computer, saw some at one time. have not had a crash in a LONG time to be able to look them up to see where they live.

might try search for dump and see if anything shows.

if you have not had a crash since last cleanup you might not have any therefore maybe no folder either.

the new format is probably different since they collect a LOT more data.
