Retail box contains both 32/64bit right?

Did I understand correctly in that there are not separate retail packages
but that you will have the option to install either 32bit/64bit when you
install?

Re: Retail box contains both 32/64bit right?

At this point it appears that both DVD's will be included with the FULL
edition and the 64-bit DVD will have to be ordered with the upgrade. Full
Version you will be able to install either one as a custom install. Upgrade
will only work for the bit version you have to install from

Clarification on that last statement. There will be no way to upgrade XP64
to Vista64. You can use the upgrade version of Vista but you will have to
do a clean install.

Re: Retail box contains both 32/64bit right?

Actually, I think John meant to say you can upgrade an existing Vista x64
SKU such as Vista Home Premium x64 to Ultimate x64. But as you rightly said,
no upgrade paths from XP x64 to Vista x64.

Well, that's just my interpretation of the note at
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvist...gradeinfo.mspx which says:

"If you are currently using Windows 2000 Professional or Windows XP
Professional x64, you are eligible for an upgrade copy to a corresponding or
better edition of Windows Vista, but a clean install is required."
