WTF: 7 Gig is not enough Space!

Just ran the upgrade advisor on a computer at work for a joke... It
complained I only had 7 Gig of disk space left and Vista needs 15!

Pff!

And then "Microsoft SQL Server might be incompatible. We don't really
know though. Check with Microsoft to find out more..."

Hehe.

Re: 7 Gig is not enough Space!

The upgrade advisor is correct, Vista uses a minimum of 10.1 to 11 GBs of
disk space. Also, the installation requires that you have adequate space to
store temporary files. So you need to free up some disk space or buy a new
hard disk and install Vista on it.

Re: 7 Gig is not enough Space!

That is correct....

After installation it needs less than 15. You really need a 30 gb disk to
say
that you will do anything with vista. If you want to upgrade you need even
more space.

The reason why it needs so much is the way they made the installer...
it copies-unpacks everything on the disk. They say this makes the
installation faster.
However shifting around such large amounts of data is.......well I wont say
what it is.
Decide for yourself.

Actually it only needs 15 gig for the install. I have a test machine at
work that had 2 blank 10 gig drives. Vista installed fine, and the
installed disk (drive C) has about 2 gig free.

Re: 7 Gig is not enough Space!

Yeah, Vista installs fine on 9-10 gig hard drives. You just don't have any
room afterwards.

If you ever get bored, try running Vista on a 300mhz processor with 256 mb
of memory. It is exciting, I'm telling you. Vista takes up 230mb of those
256mb.

Some disk defraggers won't work properly/efficiently without
some extra room.
