| | Deactivate Windows Vista I have an MSDN subscription and installed Windows Vista on my laptop. However I recently got a new laptop and will be getting rid of the old one, so I would like to deactivate the license on it so I can keep my licensing clean. I keep reading that Microsoft allows you to do this but I can't find anything that will show me how to do it. I found a reference in Windows Vista help that says you have to unintall Vista, but I can't figure out how to do that either. Any Ideas? |

There is no deactivation, only new activation. To uninstall, simply format the drive on the current laptop that has Vista installed. When you install Vista on the new laptop, activate it over the internet. If activation fails, choose to activate by phone instead. That should take less than five minutes and you'll be done. -- Tom Porterfield |

| | Re: Deactivate Windows Vista There is no deactivation. Uninstalling Vista is accomplished by formatting the drive. There is no uninstallation wizard. | | Re: Deactivate Windows Vista Your MSDN Key should be good for up to 10 activations anyway. Calling to activate is painless. Takes about 10 minutes. -- BSchwarz Posted via http://ms-os.com Forum to Usenet gateway |
