indexing service

Every time I open the indexing control panel, I get "waiting to receive
indexing status..." and nothing else. Doesn't matter how long I leave it
open; the modify and advanced buttons are still greyed out.

1. Why?
2. Possible workarounds?
3. Is there an mmc snap-in for indexing?

Re: indexing service

Is possible that it might be corrupted. Is the option to click Advanced
available? If so, click it > on the Advanced Options dialog that appears,
click "Rebuild" under Troubleshooting.

Re: indexing service

What version of Vista are you running?
How long has it been installed?
For how long have you noticed the problem?
Do you have any interesting software or hardware on your computer?

Ben

Re: indexing service

No, the only option not greyed out is "Close:.
