| | Media Center video decoder malfunctioning Running Vista RC2 build 5744. Suddenly Media Center stopped playing Live and Recorded TV with the error message "The video decoder has either malfunctioned or is not installed....". I understand this is due to the codec being out of date and I can successfully run TV by setting the system clock back to before October 31 2006. Although this works OK it is obviously not a good solution, as an incorrect system date upsets other programs as well as the Media Center TV Guide listings. Is there any "correct" solution to this problem, besides waiting for the release version of Vista? TIA. -- Walter. |

| | Re: Media Center video decoder malfunctioning With RC2, you only have to set the date back to Jan 3, 2007. That doesn't help much though with the problems the wrong date creates. Install a third party decoder Nvidia pure video worked for me, it's all back up and running here. |
