| | Re: BCedit and empty boot configuration data store Sometimes it might be needed if the original store is damaged. If you have a backup of the store it wouldn't be needed, but one is able to create a complete (new)store to rebuild all settings if you know what it's all about. Ko. | | Re: BCedit and empty boot configuration data store Creating a new bcd store can be useful if using Windows RE on a 2nd partition (used mainly in OEM environments). Although just copying the bcd store from the vista partition is a easier way of doing this. | | Re: BCedit and empty boot configuration data store Their is info in Vista help but just as with XP, the vast majority of users including ones on this group won't touch it--and if you don't you're going to lose the opportunity for good info. You type bcdedit in help. There is info by searching the Technet Vista site. BCDEDIT FAQs http://technet2.microsoft.com/Window....mspx?mfr=true Some of the information is going to be difficult for the average user because of the terminology, involved and they m ight do better using a 3rd party gui boot modifier. Anytime Ko chips in you're going to get a tip or very helpful answer to the question. I'm not sure if you could ferret out the answer from the info from MSFT but you might.
