The current OS is not relevant - what is germane is that you have a
system that meets the system requirements for Windows Vista and you
have the Windows Vista drivers for all the components of that system

Yes as long as 1. you are licensed to do so, and 2. again you have the
x64 Vista drivers for all the hardware components.

Good grief... I would suggest you take control of your enthusiasm
and wait for the wave of concerns that will be expressed in a month or two,
then make your decision on whether to buy vista

Or brace yourself for many problems...

You say you are about to receive a copy of Vista Business. Do you mean a
retail copy? As long as it is a full edition you should be fine. If you
have been running RC1 on this computer I don't see why you can't run Vista
Business. You will not be able to upgrade-in-place, however. A migration
is required when you "downgrade" from Ultimate to Business. Plan
    accordingly.

    Michael,

Respectfully, why do you demonstrate such a level for lack of knowledge
    regarding Vista?

Apparently you must be a very bored individual that enjoys spreading myth,
rumor, and disgraceful deceptions, in respect to Vista.

what do you advise when migrating. i have saved all my important files on a
second hard drive. i have all important keys for my programs. so a clean
install would be best. please confirm.

    thanks Colin

    Showgirl643,

Go Girl… HP has used XP x64 for a very long time. Today, HP is providing
Vista x64 within their users choice of OS.

Since you currently use an Athlon x64, can not imagine why you would
encounter conflicts with your current decision.

Your enthusiasm and excitement for using Vista is not only respected, it’s
    mutual.

    FireWall2:
I shouldn't be answering this but it's simple. A person installs
a beta operating system and expects everything to function like the previous
operating system. Since things are different and some things don't work, the
new operating system has to be junk. A side thought is since it doesn't work
right for them it can't work for others, even though many of are using it
without problems. Have a great day.
