    upgrading frm xp media centre to vista

    I have a media centre laptop and will upgrading to vista have any problems?
    and will i lose the functions of media centre or does vista have similiar
    functions?

    There is not guarantee that everything will work, that why its still in
    beta. I would preferrably install Vista on a logical partition or a spare
    computer. If you feeling like taking a risk, at least back up your data
    before moving forward. Remember, once you upgrade, its a point of no return,
    you can't uninstall Vista, you just have format it and reinstall XP.

    I think the extenders built for MCE 2005 will have problems with Vista... if
    you use an extender I would look into that before running Windows Vista.

    Vista has media center built in. I did the upgrade on a Shuttle media center
    and it is working fine...BUT I have standard devices which all have Vista
    drivers Nvidia 6600GT video card, RealTek onboard audio, and an ATI 550
    tuner.

    Laptops often need specialized drivers which probably are not available yet
    for Vista...

    I would suggest against it.
