Remote Assistance in Vista

When I try to establish Remote assistance to a workstattion in my domain i
get the message:

Windows Remote Assistance is closing. An unknown error occurred so the
session was disconnected.

Eventlog:
Application will terminate, a critical error was detected in
d:\vistartm\base\diagnosis\ra\ui\novinterdialog.cpp Line 4553 Function
OnErrorProc

Anyone a idea? I think it's a bug.

RE: Remote Assistance in Vista

This problem was seen in earlier builds and was fixed in the final Vista
(RTM) build. Are you running the RTM version or are you running a pre-RTM
build? If you are running RTM can you add the following info:

The XML from the detailed view of the Remote Assistance Event.
1) Open event viewer
2) Browse to Remote Assistance error event
3) Select Details view
4) Copy entire XML blob (which includes an error code) and post.

RE: Remote Assistance in Vista

Thanks avdhorst. We're looking into it.
Do you have a way for us to reproduce the problem? Is there something
different with your machine configuration? Do you see this all the time and
on all machines in your environment?

RE: Remote Assistance in Vista

I have one Windows Server 2003 domain controller named UTCSVRW01. Inside the
Active Directory I have created a OU named Workstations. Inside this OU there
are two workstations defined named:

- UTCD1001 (Windows Vista RTM)
- UTCD1002 (Windows Vista RTM)

Sometimes when I send a remote assistance from UTCD1001/UTCD1002 to
UTCD1002/UTCD1001 I get the error messages as described. Yes I see this error
message all the time.

When I send a remote assistance from the Live Messenger then it will works
fine.

RE: Remote Assistance in Vista

Hi Erik,
Since this is a released product (and not a Beta) we will need to get the
Microsoft Support org involved. Please file a bug report and we will follow
up.
Thanks for your help and patience.
