Vista and defender killed Avast home edition 4.7 ???

Avast home edition 4.7 has been running Great on my Vista RC2 5744 but last
night I had to uninstall it because it was getting a bit unstable this
morning I reinstalled it
And Vista gave me an incompatibility warning and also defender has started
blocking it from starting

Avast has been running flawlessly for the last three months without any
issues why all of sudden doesn't vista like running it anymore ???? WTF is
going on ?

Do I need to rollback any Vista updates ? to fix this ? is there a way to
configure Defender to let trusted programs run at startup ?

So far I have not found any settings in Defender to be able to permanently
allow trusted programs to startup

RE: Vista and defender killed Avast home edition 4.7 ???

Will,

A much smoother functionality of "current" Vista Beta Versions is achieved
by not confusing Vista's OS; by not including those third party applications
one has used for too many years, and then Disable Defender.

Is it possible for running Vista Certified third party applications, yes. Do
they commonly create conflicts for Vista Beta as you described, yes.

will,

Please reference your below question (in part) specifically the last
sentence. Ask, and you just might receive your request.

"Do I need to rollback any Vista updates ? to fix this ? is there a way to
configure Defender to let trusted programs run at startup ?"

"So far I have not found any settings in Defender to be able to permanently

It didn't make a lot of sense to me either. I think he's trying to say:

"Don't use third-party programs that you've used for years, and disable the
inbuilt Windows Defender. Then Vista will run smoothly".

But I don't agree with the advice. There should be absolutely no reason why
Avast & Defender cannot run happily together. I will boot into Vista in a
bit, and see what happens with my install (64-bit Ultimate
RTM/Avast/Defender).

Cheers

Of course, reading back through that, his intended advise could have been:

"There are third-party software conflicts when using Vista Beta 2."

Which would make a lot more sense!! And would hopefully be accompanied by
"These have been resolved in the final version."

There is no point. The guy is a mental case, and a douche bag to boot.

Re: Vista and defender killed Avast home edition 4.7 ???

My point was that under My Vista RC2 5744 avast had run just fine for the
last three months and all of a sudden I get an incompatibility issue with
it,

I've installed an updated version of avast now and all is fine again

But the strange thing is on another pc in my house also running RC2 5744
I've had no trouble at all with avast

Re: Vista and defender killed Avast home edition 4.7 ???

If you are running Vista64, you could have had the problem versions on the
one computer for a while.
