    Vista vs Media Ctr

    Hi:
I am looking to buy a new laptop.
The question is ...with which OS: Vista or Media Ctr?
Does Vista (premium version) come with all of the features that are in the
Media Ctr OS ? If not, were some omitted or do you not get access to them
until you purchase a higheer version of Vista ?
Does Vista (premium) allow you to remotely assist someone else who is
have a problem with their computer ?

    Thank you

    Yes Home Premium does

Vista Home Premium doesn't have all the features of XP Media Center (which
was based on Professional). Things like Remote Desktop.

It supports Remote Assistance, but not Remote Desktop. If you needed Remote
Desktop with Media Center you'd need the Ultimate edition.

    The Product Guide here:
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en
Has the nitty gritty details about what features are supported in which
    edition.

    Hi:

    Thanx for your reply.
I a bit (or byte) confused.
What is the difference between Remote assist and Remote Desktop.
Do Ineed one (just Remote Assist) or both (Remotye Assist and Remote
Desktop) in order to help someone running XP Home Ed. ?

    Thank you

    Re: Vista vs Media Ctr

With Remote Desktop you control another computer from your desktop and are
the only user. With remote assistance you give another user the right to
perform tasks on your desktop and the two of you share control.

    Re: Vista vs Media Ctr

    Hi:
So, with RTemotye Assist, if someone else taps me to help them via Remote
    Assist,
I can take control of their computer (with their permission) and fix things
if I also have Remote Assistance...or...do I need Remote Desktop ?

Am I correct that Remote Desktop is for me to be able to login to say a home
machine from a laptop while I am on the road ?

    Thank you...
