You shouldn't post in all caps. If you don't want to use Vista then don't.

No one here can help you with the pricing. Contact your MS local office in
    the UK.

I think what Bodger is trying to say is "THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO NEED FOR THE
    GREAT BRITISH PRICE RIP OFF!"

I know there's nothing anyone here can do about it, but it IS very
frustrating when the price differential is so great, especially when you know
that the average salary in the US is double that of the UK! Think about what
that does to the price in real terms to us in the UK! Not only software is
it? Petrol, booze and cigarettes! We are TOTALLY screwed in every which way
shape and form! Bodgers caps lock is not stuck, he's SHOUTING 'cos he angry!
    And SO AM I!

I am in the US, and believe me I really do agree totally with you.
I can't find ANY rational for this incredible cost differential.
I think that the rest of the world will think that this is just another
    example of the US's arrogance.

It is not that we do not want to use Vista it is just a right pain in the
backside (and wallet) that we are being over charged so much compared to the
    USA.

Australia in the same position. Its cheaper to buy it from USA and pay
    postage etc .

Wrong. Average US salary in 2005 was €43740, the UK was €37600. In
2007, with the decline in the exchange rate of the $ to the £ they are
now almost equal. Nowhere near double.

Petrol is expensive because of the tax. Booze is as cheap here as it is
in the USA (cheaper if you do a booze run to France) and who cares
    about cigarettes?
