| | Re: classic logon prompt "Ctrl+Alt+Del" You can't. That "single-user Welcome Screen" you've seen is as near to previous Windows' classic logon window as you can get in Vista. It has all the functionality of classic logon (except domain field; you'll have to enter domain along with user name as "user@domain" or "DOMAIN\user") but looks much like usual Welcome Screen. -- Alexander Suhovey "dkblee" <dkblee@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:9FA9C950-555C-4075-814F-83FFD6C17F7D@microsoft.com... > How do i enable Classic logon prompt in vista? | | Re: classic logon prompt "Ctrl+Alt+Del" The only way to get the ctrl alt del login is to be setup on a domain, I have business on my work pc and it is on a domain, so I have the ctrl alt del login. My home pc has ultimate 64bit with 2 users with no domain, I have the normal welcome screen but mine is password protected. That should be fine if you are not on a domain. Just password protect the accounts and lock the pc when you are done. | | Re: classic logon prompt "Ctrl+Alt+Del" You get ctrl alt del from using the control userpasswords2 and the run prompt. You can select that as a log on option. Also if the classic login wont look like it does in xp or win 2000. The best you can do is change the local securtiy policy to not display the last name at log on. I had to do this with a few of my boxes that are on the network. For that you type in gpedit.msc at the run prompt. Look for interactive logon. | | Re: classic logon prompt "Ctrl+Alt+Del" Enable alternative logon screen Microsoft has removed the classic Windows NT style logon screen in Windows Vista. You can no longer press CTRL+ALT+Delete to get to a logon box where you can type in the username and password. Do the following to enable both the Username and Password fields on the Vista Welcome/Logon screen: 1. Click on the Start Button, type in secpol.msc and press <enter>. 2. Click Local Policies, then click Security Options. 3. In the right hand pane, locate "Interactive logon: Do not display last user name", right click on it and select Properties. 4. Select Enable and click OK. 5. Close the Local Security Policy editor. Log off and you will see the new logon screen. http://www.svrops.com/svrops/articles/winvistafaq.htm "dkblee" <dkblee@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:9FA9C950-555C-4075-814F-83FFD6C17F7D@microsoft.com... > How do i enable Classic logon prompt in vista? | | Re: classic logon prompt "Ctrl+Alt+Del" Our vista (domain) is setup in one of our satellite offices. We would like an icon for each user to appear at logon, allowing the user to choose an icon to log in under (of course with the right password. | | Re: classic logon prompt "Ctrl+Alt+Del" To clarify my previous post... We have a single Vista machine, with multiple users accounts, in a domain. Currently, at machine startup, the user is presented with Ctrl-Alt-Del, which then takes the user to the classic logon (username/password). Due to the domain configuration, each user has to type in "domain"\username and password to log into there personalized desktop. Is there a way to change the logon screen (@ computer startup) to show icons for each user account, which would enable the user to simply click her/his name, leading to the entering of that user's password?
