| | Re: Vista - Internet speed very slow - Help out of ideas What Network adaptor do you have fitted? If it's Realtek RTL8139/810X Family Host Ethernet NIC, check the driver version. If that is dated 2007 try rolling back to Version 5.640.630.2006. It worked for me and hope it does for you to "Eddie Walker" wrote: > i have two hard drives in my laptop one with XP and the other (a 7200 rpm > drive) with Vista Ultimate. | | RE: Vista - Internet speed very slow - Help out of ideas I too am having no luck making IE open webpages anyfaster, my conection is well over 1 megabyte per second (yes i said megaBYTE) and this thing is INTOLERABLE! I made a huge mistake buying vista, STICK WITH XP! or youll be pulling your hair out.I upgraded 2 of the systems on my network and left the 3rd as XP and even though its a 6 year old system it SMOKES vista in browsing. I love the disconect window that says "your most likely not connected to the net, check your internet connection" what a joke. Disabling the phishing filter does NOTHING, in fact it makes it even slower, if you can beleive that! Microsoft, do us a favor and give us a refund on this terminably ill software. | | Re: Vista - Internet speed very slow - Help out of ideas geepers, look here to disable auto-tuning, which is the new handy-dandy feature of Vista's new TCP/IP stack: http://groups.google.com/group/micro...e4546efa61914f if you try it, it would be nice if you report back on whether this works for you NOTE: not everybody has a problem with Vista and broadband because people are connecting with different routers, etc. Jrz wrote: Quote: > it's likely the "Next Generation TCP/IP stack in Windows Vista". | | Re: Vista - Internet speed very slow - Help out of ideas Well, thanks for the attemp. It actually may have made things worse, but one couldnt tell as it is SOOO bad as it is. I stand by the decision that Dell and Microsoft are complicit in their thievery. | | Re: Vista - Internet speed very slow - Help out of ideas FYI I too have an 8 MB internet connection! It is provided by Comcast in my area. That sir is an AVERAGE speed and it is sometimes higher than that. My upload speed is faster than a lot of dsl download speeds. All that being said, i have exactly the same problem. Using an Emachines system with an athlon64 in a dual boot mode, the machine can achieve the above speeds booting under XP but at dialup speeds (around 400kbs) under Vista 64. I've seen many blogs about this relating to various network settings and drivers and nothing seems to eleviate the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated and passed on to all V64 users. -- It''s about the ride..enjoy it!
