Vista - Vista upgrade- but no sound

I have just got the Windows Vista Upgrade Business DVD as part of the Action
Pack.

Today did my first Vista install (an upgrade from XP Pro to Vista Business).
Took the clean install option.

But after install I have no sound and Vista cannot find the drivers.

Motherboard is an ASUS K8V-X SE and the sound is on-board ADI AD1888
SoundMax six channel.

I have hunted the web for Vista drivers for the sound card, but cannot find
them. This is a fairly common sound system and I surprised that Vista could
not install or find them.

Can anyone help ?

obviously you NEED the drivers. if theyre not on the motherboard
manufactureres website id be very surprised

Did you check Windows Update after the install? Windows Vista Upgrade
Advisor said the SoundMax drivers are on the Windows Update site under
drivers.

I am experiencing the exact same problem. Vista has automatically installed
the approperate driver from the online data base. However, sound only comes
out of the rear speaker ports. I just have two front speakers, and must
enable 5.1 for any sound to come out. When sound is played, it is very faded
and muddled. I'm presuming from having 5.1 on a two speaker system.
Asus nor SoundMAX has released the proper drivers/software yet to fix this
issue. If anyone has a work around, please inform me. This is becoming quite
frustrating.
