| | Connect to Network Substantial Delay in Businesss RTM Has anyone experienced a delay that occurs when you click right click on the network icon in the systray and click connect to network? I have a Dell D620 Notebook with a Core 2 Duo 2.33 Proc 2 GB Memory. I have about 18 VPN Connections which I believe to have something do do with this delay. After Running process monitor numerous times I have noticed that the operation causes about 120000 registry operations while waiting the 60 seconds for the window to open. While analyzing the registry trace I can see that it is accessing a specific set of registry keys thay have to do with calling cards (telephony related keys). I guess it does this for every VPN connection which is a complete drag. It sure is a pain when you go to connect to a wireless network and you have to wait 60 seconds for the window to open. I have noticed on Vista RTM machines without any VPN connections the connect to network dialog opens immediately. Thanks STF |

| | RE: Connect to Network Substantial Delay in Businesss RTM Have you activated? I know vista kept doing this on my laptop till it was activated. For some reason it wants to auto activate with every reboot. "Sean T. | | Re: Connect to Network Substantial Delay in Businesss RTM I am activated. Just for kicks I put an explicit deny on the cards key and now everything works great. The network center opens in about 2 seconds instead of 45. Internet explorer opens very fast also because it was accessing the same keys. No issues have come up yet in result of locking down the key.
