"tricking" Vista ultimate upgrade to install on clean HDD?

You have to think outside of box. low level format the hard drive then install the vista upgrade an a full version. when it ask for product ID just skip it. continue to install OS when its fully installed do an in place upgrade. insert vista OS dvd choose to upgrade an then also choose to download latest upgrade info from internet then proceed with upgrade as normal when its finished just activate it by clicking launch then right clicking computer an choosing properties. your done!!!
