kernel-mode drivers

Cannot install Kernel Mode Printer Drivers on Vista.

For Windows Server 2003, Microsoft let us override this by using the
Group Policy

-------------------------------------------------------
Start, Run type "MMC"

Add "Group Policy Object Editor"
Browse to Local Computer Policy, Administrative Templates, Printers

Change "Not Configured" to "Disabled" for Disallow installation of
printers using kernel-mode drivers.

Close MMC
------------------------------------------------------

Unfortunately, this is not working for Windows Vista.

Thoughts? Besides not using Kernel Mode Printer Drivers.

Nope, it is completely disallowed in both 32bit and 64bit Vista. There
is no override.

Re: kernel-mode drivers

Ed--

It's not clear to me what kind of print driver or drivers you need to get
installed? Could you specify exactly?

Why the need to invoke "kernel mode printer drivers"? What exactly do you
want to get done?

Can you reach what you want by typing "gpedit.msc" into the run box? Then
go to Windows Settings>Deployed Printers>right click>deploy printer? Or do
this under User Configuration>Windows Settings>Deployed Printers?

Or User Configuration>Administrative Templates>Control Panel>Printers then
use the categories in the right pane?

In reference to the previous post, I am installing a database called
Alpha Five v5 which also installs it's own printers as part of the
install process. So, I am unable to install the software as there is
no override to leave the printers out.
