| | Activation Blues... Briefly -- I clean installed Ultimate and activated. No problem. Next, I shut down and moved the drive cable from port 1 to port 0 on my 3Ware RAID card - drive is configured as JOBD. Restarted computer and got a "3 Days to Activate" notice. Tried to "reactivate" - NoGo. Tried online Live Tech chat - product key not accepted, "Already in Use" Next, shut down and moved drive back to port 1 - Fired it up, and Ultimate's activation was restored. Tried online Live Tech chat - product key was not accepted, "Already in use" I think you will agree that it is not unreasonable for the user to be given the ability to move the OS physical drive - within the same computer - from one controller to another, or even from one controller port to another on the same controller. Please address this issue. |

I knew they were taking steps to improve the activation, but just a simple cable change? fuxache :-( |

| | RE: Activation Blues... The same happened to me except the only thing I changed were device drivers!! Instead of activating online I done it over the phone and all seems to be fine again, well until the next time I change anything! They need to sort it out... | | RE: Activation Blues... Well! What do you know... I just updated my 3Ware RAID drivers this afternoon - and you'll never guess what... I HAD TO CALL INDIA FOR REACTIVATION!!!! WTF (WhatTheF**k)?????!!!!!!! The ONLY consolation to having to endure this PITA (PainInTheAss) inconvenience is that the screening questions asked by the attendent are merely a formality - Getting the BLN (BigLongNumber) is essentially no-hassle. | | Re: Activation Blues... "Is this the first time your are activating Windows?" "On how many computers is this version of Windows software installed?" --Sometimes they will also ask: "Why are you reactivating Windows?" The answers to these three questions are pretty straight forward... Once again, activation inconveniences paying customers and does nothing to stop piracy. It does do a lot for Linux, though. Alias |

| | RE: Activation Blues... ditto -- I too just updated my device drivers and installed some programs after I activated and then found I had "three more days to activate". I have not phoned yet but I'm hoping it won't be a problem.
