Chipset Drivers

When the Manufacture says that there are no chipset drivers available as
they are including in the OS, should I download and install the latest
chipset drivers from the Intel website?

If it works, leave it.

Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright
until you hear them speak.........

Re: Chipset Drivers

In general, you want to use the most current stable release set of drivers.
Not "beta", not "XP but they work" ... Windows Vista native drivers. So if
the manufacturer says "Use the Vista drivers" and they have no newer ones,
that's what I would do.

I would not install the generic Intel drivers unless the manufacturer
recommends it.

Re: Chipset Drivers

Be very careful if you are talking about a laptop. The files are often
personalized by the laptop manufacturer for a specific laptop. That's
why you often find that the chip manufacturer does not list laptops.

A reason not to download hardware updates from Windows Update unless
you are really sure they are for your type of PC -- I don't thinnk
WIndows Update is really clever enough to find out what make and model
you have when you go to update Windows.
