| | CPU power saving Hi, I have a computer with a Socket754 Athlon64 3000+ CPU that has both, Windows XP SP2 and Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit installed. (dual boot) Under Windows XP "Cool'n'Quiet" has been working fine all the time, but it doesn't seem to work in Vista. According to "CPU-Z" or AMD's own "AMD Clock" utility the CPU's frequency always stays at 2000 MHz. I've played around with the energy options in Vista, but haven't been able to get it to work. Is it possible that Vista doesn't support power saving with this CPU, even though Windows XP does? |

| | Re: CPU power saving I have a 3200 and it works fine for me. use energy saver it sets the cpu at 50%, using balanced it reduces cpu but allows it to go up and down as needed. be sure you have enabled cool & quiet in the bios. mine is a MSI mobo, might be a difference. mikeyhsd@sport.rr.com "Mirko" <mirko@pchome.com.tw> wrote in message news:eQUrxzWRHHA.1208@TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl... | | Re: CPU power saving Yes, it's definitely enabled in the BIOS. (if I switch it off there, then it won't work in Windows XP too) I've searched a bit through the internet and figured that I am not the only one who faces the problem. AMD's own forum also has some posts regarding this issue. http://forums.amd.com/index.php?show...ntry1364047024 "mikeyhsd" <mikeyhsd@sport.rr.com> schrieb im Newsbeitrag news:e6UMuKZRHHA.1212@TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl...
