SQL 2005 and Vista problem

Hi,

When using Vista it cannot connect to a SQL 2005.

We first discovered this in our ptogram, and then I tested it in the ODBC
control panel. It says that it cannot find the SQL server.....

When connecting to a SQL 2000 it works fine.

This is only a problem in Vista. Works great in 98/2000/XP

Thanks,
David

Re: SQL 2005 and Vista problem

Are you trying to connect from local machine to local SQL Server?

I just installed both and have no problems. If you are trying to connect
from another workstation this I have not tried. It may have to do with
computer browser service which I notice is not turned on.

Re: SQL 2005 and Vista problem

Hi Lloyd!

On the same machine I also have Win XP, and there it works.

The SQL 2005/SQL 2000 is on a Win 2003 server.

Re: SQL 2005 and Vista problem

What authentication mode does the sql server use? If it's Windows make sure
your Vista user is added.

Search for Vista in "Readme for Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2":
