| | My Music Folder I've know I've made a User Error and somehow erased or changed the "My Music" folder. As a result "iTunes" cannot start because it cannot locate the 'iTunes" folder inside the default location of "My Music" folder. I should state that "iTunes" was working before I made the above Error. I've tried to create a new "My Music" folder inside C:\users\...\documents\ - but it won't let me use the name "My Music" telling me the name is already in use. I did a search but the only "My Music" folder result where found in C:\users\...\Links. When I tried to delete the Link it told me the link no longer exists. Please How do I create a "My Music" folder so that iTunes will work. |

| | Re: My Music Folder Thank you. I really appreciate the simplicity of the repair. I did try this (Restore Default" but kept getting the Error Message "Failed to build the list of regular subfolders under "Z:\System Volume Information" Access is denied." After rebooting ,,, and rebooting,,, more rebooting... it worked. Your my MVP today! "Ramesh, MS-MVP" wrote: > Right click on the My Music icon in the Start menu, and choose Properties. | Vista Ultimate 64-bit EN | Hi Ramesh, is it also possible to add a new folder? I would like to have one called 'Software' and be able to set the 'location' property just like with 'My Music' and let it point to another HD/Folder. Tnx, Robert Right click on the My Music icon in the Start menu, and choose Properties. Select the "Location" tab, and click "Restore default". | | Re: My Music Folder Robert, The "Location" tab is present only for certain shell folders, and I don't think it's possible to add one to a custom folder. Why not move the "software" folder itself to a different drive using a Cut-Paste operation? -- Regards, Ramesh Srinivasan, Microsoft MVP [Windows XP Shell/User] Windows® XP Troubleshooting http://www.winhelponline.com "ABoyCalledSilly" <ABoyCalledSilly.2lqfzp@no-mx.forums.net> wrote in message news:ABoyCalledSilly.2lqfzp@no-mx.forums.net... | Vista Ultimate 64-bit EN | Hi Ramesh, tnx for your swift answer... Problem is as follows: I have multiple HD's (not in raid(x) or 'striped volume') with each it's own kind of data on it. C: = System/Vista E: = Music F: = Movies G: = Software etc... With the "special folders" option, all those disk could be shown within a single folder structure. Thus Less clicking, one single overview etc... In case you have any other workable solution, I would love to hear it from you. | | Re: My Music Folder Hi Robert, Still not fully clear on what you're trying to accomplish. If you're wanting to create a shell folder and route it to a file system folder/drive, then you may use Shell Object Editor utility. Shell Object Editor http://www.tropictech.de/modules/PDd...p?cid=1&lid=5/ This utility worked very fine under Windows XP, but haven't tested it under Vista. You may need to run the utility elevated (right-click and "Run as Administrator") -- Regards, Ramesh Srinivasan, Microsoft MVP [Windows XP Shell/User] Windows® XP Troubleshooting http://www.winhelponline.com "ABoyCalledSilly" <ABoyCalledSilly.2lqq5d@no-mx.forums.net> wrote in message news:ABoyCalledSilly.2lqq5d@no-mx.forums.net...
