Re: Can't get vista to sleep.

I have similar problem and have turned off the ability of the network
adapter (for high speed internet) to wake the computer and it did not help;
I still have same problem.

Re: Can't get vista to sleep.

there's another setting for the network adapter under 'advanced' --set it to
'none'

Re: Can't get vista to sleep.

I don't see a relevant setting under 'advanced' for the network adapter. Do
you have a more specific label? Thanks.

RE: Can't get vista to sleep.

So I’ve tried everything under the sun to fix this sudden wake syndrome
thingy and the 3 steps that have worked the best are...

#1 - Change USB Settings:

1. Open Power Settings, choose the plan you have selected
2. Click change plan settings
3. Click change advanced power setting
4. Enable the setting under USB settings->USB slective suspend setting

#2 - Change Multimeda Settings:

If any of you are on a home network and/or have a media center extender, go
to Multimedia Settings (under advanced power settings)

1. Clik Multimedia settings
2. When sharing media, choose "Allow the computer to sleep"

#3 - Change Network and Sharing Center Settings:

1. From the Control Panel, select Network and Sharing Center
2. Click Manage network connections
3. Select your LAN or Local Area Connection
4. Click Properties
5. Click Configure
6. Select tab, Power Management
7. Deselect "Allow this device to wake the computer"

Re: Can't get vista to sleep.

'Advanced' for my adapter yields a menu containing 'wake up capabilities'.
I've selected 'none'.

Re: Can't get vista to sleep.

My adapter 'Advanced' does not have a menu item for 'wake up capabilities';
perhaps it is dependent on the specific hardware?

Re: Can't get vista to sleep.

I have done the items suggested in Post #27. For a while it would not
go *into* sleep (screened blanked and back on in five seconds). Latest
thing was I changed "Allow hybrid sleep" to Off. Now it *does* enter
sleep...but upon waking the screen lights up but is 'frozen' (e.g.,
gadget clock second hand) and after it sits there for about two or three
minutes I get the BSOD, then it reboots itself. Still a mess; either it
won't go into sleep or it won't come out of sleep.
