Vista - Slow Install/Uninstall

Since installing Vista Home Premium I have noticed installing or uninstalling
programs takes forever. For example: I am trying to uninstall Roxio Easy
Media Creator through Windows Uninstall. It has been 15 minutes and it is
not even 1/3 of the way through "gathering required information".

Installing programs is just as bad.

Everything worked fine with XP. (maybe that's my answer!)

Was Roxio Easy Media Creator installed in XP, then you did the upgrade to
Vista, and are not trying to uninstall it?

I did do a fresh install. It still runs a little slow, but thanks anyway.

I'm having the same problem. Could this be a memory problem? I only have 1
gigabyte of RAM, and when I checked the system performance, 600 megs of that
memory is used up on a baseline average (meaning, that's what's normal when
running XP). If not a memory issue, what else could it be?

Since posting my original message I have reinstalled Vista using the "clean"
