| | Microsoft LifeCam Drivers for Vista refuses to install Hi all, Has anyone been able to get the Microsoft LifeCam 1.3 drivers to install in Vista? The actuall software installs but Vista says no to installing the drivers for the VX6000 webcam and claims to not be able to find it. I tried on Vista Ultimate x64 and Vista Business x86 to no avail. any ideas on what i can try ?? Steven |

| | Re: Microsoft LifeCam Drivers for Vista refuses to install I had no problems installing it on Vista x64. Make sure that it's not plugged in when you install the software. The installation will tell you when to plug it in. Otherwise I don't know what to say to help. | | Re: Microsoft LifeCam Drivers for Vista refuses to install I did just that and it failed to work, i did try the Windows XP version back in novemeber and uninstalled it as that would never work as i found out. I tried it on my Windows Vista x86 Laptop as well and also on Windows XP and it fails on there too. *sighs* |

| | Re: Microsoft LifeCam Drivers for Vista refuses to install I bought the "Works Great with Vista" LifeCam VX-6000 because I didn't want to wrestle with incompatibility problems and of course that was not the case. I got my camera to work by using the disk that was shipped but not following the directions. - Plug in the camera and let the installation process fail. - Go to your Control panel -> Computer Management -> Device Manager and find the device that is not working under Other Devices... I wish I could tell you exactly what it is but now that I have fixed it, the original name is gone. I believe it was something ending in xxx20 but is should be obvious. - Right click on the device and choose Update Driver Software - When asked choose to Browse My Computer for driver Software. - Browse to the CDROM under \LifeCam\Setup\Files\Driver64\VX6000 - I would imagine that you can use the Driver32 files if you are using that version as well. - Click next and continue through the driver installation process. - When I completed the process it tried to install the LifeCam software again and failed that process with a "Setup cannot continue because an unexpected error has occurred" message.. the same one I had been getting all along but... - I found that the driver had been installed correctly, and applications that required the video worked fine.I'm not sure what I am missing by not having the whole package installed but at least the camera works as it should. -- jfillian Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com |
