No internet connection after hibernation or sleep

I still can't get my computer to sleep properly, it shuts down then
immediately wakes up but until someone can help me with that, Im using
hibernate.

My computer shuts down at hibernate as it should but when I turn it back on
I have no internet connection at the network card. Everytime I hibernate
the computer and start back up I have to repair the network connection.

Can someone tell me why this is happening and what to do to stop it from
happening?

Re: No internet connection after hibernation or sleep

Personally I wouldn't use hibernate feature or the sleep feature on a
computer never have never will..

I have always used screen saver and never have turned off the monitor thru
the power options....

Re: No internet connection after hibernation or sleep

When my electrics bill is over $450.00 a month here I try to conserve any
electricity I possibly can, so if I could use sleep I surely would because
it starts back up right straight away, compared to the 2 minutes that it
takes vista to load and all associated programs to finish loading up before
my computer is fully loaded up and rip roaring to go.

Still I'd like to get sleep or hibernation to work without it losing it's
internet connection even though hibernate is only slightly faster since the
bios has to do it's regular checks when bringing it back from hibernation.

Re: No internet connection after hibernation or sleep

*Try this. Check the power management setting for the network adapter.
In Windows XP, go to the Device Manager's Network Adapters area, find
your adapter, and select Properties. Under the Power Management tab,
uncheck the box that turns off the adapter when power saving kicks in.
Your settings may vary, the settings for my Toshiba are under the
Advanced tab> Power Save Mode> On/Off. Your battery may run down a
little quicker, but you'll have a stable network connection.*

Re: No internet connection after hibernation or sleep

The article you refer to is for Vista systems, the PC having the problem
is an XP laptop, although it connects through a router connected to a
Vista system. Thanks, I'll give it a try!
