| | cannot install works suite 2004's version of word 2002 using new dell e521 desktop, vista home premium version. it came with works suite 8, without word. upon trying to install works suite 2004's version of word, 2002: 1) i receive an advisory that other useres are logged on, & I should close them out. i only have i user set on this machine. 2) it also states i have IE running, which i didn't. i did have side bar up, so i closed that out & tried again. i am connected to internet thru cable modem, always on. should i unplug the ethernet cable & try agaim? 3) or is it that works suite 2004's word 2002, cannot be installed? 4) i also have works suite 99 with word 97 (which i like the best). can just word 97 be installed? i'm coming from a 98se machine to vista home premium. as always, any help greatly appreciated! thank you, len kiesling |

| | solved-Re: cannot install works suite 2004's version of word 2002 solved! steps i took: i removed weather & news headlines from windows sidebar. closed sidebar restarted computer. installed the works disk it auto ran i did receive the message box that advised another user was logged on, but proceeded to install. (don't know why, i'm the only user.) followed steps to install just word 2002. this time no message box advising that i was on net. (possibly the weather & headlines being on the sidebar was cause). word working ok. have 1 small glitch i wrote into the word newusers group about. thank you, len kiesling "Leonard F Kiesling" <lenny323@optonline.net> wrote in message news 452BB70-4947-4CAE-BAE1-BB8FCC5D0764@microsoft.com...> using new dell e521 desktop, vista home premium version. it came with > works suite 8, without word. upon trying to install works suite 2004's > version of word, 2002: > > 1) i receive an advisory that other useres are logged on, & I should close > them out. i only have i user set on this machine. > > 2) it also states i have IE running, which i didn't. i did have side bar > up, so i closed that out & tried again. i am connected to internet thru > cable modem, always on. should i unplug the ethernet cable & try agaim? > > 3) or is it that works suite 2004's word 2002, cannot be installed? > > 4) i also have works suite 99 with word 97 (which i like the best). can > just word 97 be installed? > > i'm coming from a 98se machine to vista home premium. > > as always, any help greatly appreciated! > > thank you, len kiesling |
