Ready Boost & Secure Digital Memory Card

I have been reading that Ready Boost only works with a USB drive but
on the Microsoft website is say USB Drive or SD memory card. Which is
right?

I am thinking of getting an SD Memory card for a laptop which seems
like molasses, at least to me. It currently has 522MB and I
recommended going to at least 1GB with no success. I think I can
insert my own SD card so it will run a bit faster at least I am using
it.

SD will work as long as it meets the requirements for ReadyBoost. That is
2.5MB/sec throughput for 4K random reads and 1.75MB/sec throughput for 512K
random writes. For more info on ReadyBoost see

Ok that answers part of the question but do you notice the increase in
speed? Maybe someone at MS just has a lot of stock in flash memory.

I have 1.25 Gig of main memory. Can't say I notice much in the way of speed
increase with readyboost. To be honest, vista is the straw that broke the
camel's back and I am now dual-booting Linux. It really is much faster and
nicer looking (just look at something like Beryl - all the stuff aero glass
promised but doesn't need a high-end 3d graphics card), pity you need a
degree in geekness to use it <g>
