| | HOSTS file not there... http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923947/en-us I could not edit the hosts file, found the above work around, but when opening it via notepad, the HOSTS file doesn't appear in the browse window. Help. |

On the Open dialogue box, you have to set the thing that says Text Documents (*.txt) to All Files instead. ss. |

| | Re: HOSTS file not there... Right, the hosts file has no file extension appended to the name. If the browse windows is filtering for .txt files, then it will not show up. | | Re: HOSTS file not there... Well duh...thanks for pointing out the obvious for me. But regardless, I still get the cannot create the C:\.....\hosts file message. | | Re: HOSTS file not there... Are you running notepad "as administrator" (by right-clicking it and clicking Run As Administrator)?
