| | Home: Basic or Premium? Let's see... 1. I don't have a "laptop with enhanced Windows Mobility Center and Tablet PC support"; 2. I don't want to "collaborate and share documents with Windows Meeting Space"; 3. I certainly don't want to "experience photos and entertainment in my living room with Windows Media Center"; 4. Nor would I want to "enjoy Windows Media Center on TVs throughout my home with Xbox 360T and other devices". So this is what it boils down to: Is an "elegant Windows AeroT desktop experience with Windows Flip 3D navigation" really worth the extra cost of Vista Home Premium over Vista Home Basic? -- Bob, who'd really like to "protect against hardware failure with advanced backup features" but that's not even offered to Home users. http://www.kanyak.com |

| | Re: Basic or Premium? I love the AeroT desktop and the popup thumbnails on the task bar. I think you don't get these in the basic edition. I paid for the premium edition just to get these! To each his own. Some HATE the Aero interface. I myself, love it. It was my primary motivation for upgrading. Oh and the enhanced search (especially from the start menu) is cool too (that's in basic as well). -- Scott http://angrykeyboarder.com A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text. Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing? |

| | Re: Basic or Premium? That's for you to decide for yourself. Each individual will need to decide whether the features they want is worth the cost of the version that suits them. That's why there are 4 major versions to choose from at varying prices, and not just one "take it or leave it" release. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org "Opinicus" <gezgin@spamcop.net> wrote in message news:12sj6breindcv71@news.supernews.com... > Let's see... > > 1. If you want to have some fun ever, then there's no comparison. The price difference is minimal. -- Jon |

| | Re: Basic or Premium? All depends on what you want. Nobody else can make up your mind, nor should they. I bought the premium over the basic to get the aero desktop. Though you'll probably be able to get basic pretty close to the aero desktop if you use third party programs like window blinds object bar etc, but then you'd be paying for those third party programs so it would sort of balance out. But if you don't care about the aero desktop then I would see no reason to get the premium over the basic. But thats what I would do..... You do what you want to do.
