Unable to connect Outlook 2003 using HTTP authentication on Vista

I've just set up a laptop with a new build of Windows Vista Business and
Office 2003. Outlook 2003 connects to an Exchange server using HTTPS
authentication. I've completed our standard setup process and do get a
username/password authentication prompt but the system returns a message
saying that it is unable to connect.

The only Knowledge Base articles I can find that seems close to this problem
is KB904942. It seems to only be a fix for Windows XP. As a last resort I
attempted to run it anyway but encountered an error where it stated there
"was not enough storage available" (I believe this is more of a rights access
problem; but am new to Vista and its security model).

Any thoughts, suggestions, or comments are appreciated.

I suggest you post to one of the Outlook newsgroups. Knowledgeable folks
there. Look under microsoft.public.outlook.

Re: Unable to connect Outlook 2003 using HTTP authentication on Vi

Actually this IS a OS problem, I am having this issue too and it seems the
RPC key in the registry is not updating and is missing a string. The problem
I have is attempting to edit this registry key keeps failing due to what I
believe is a rights issue. I have tried alot of different approaches with the
same results. Somebody needs to step up and tell us how this key can be
modified and saved first BEFORE we start slamming Outlook. Sorry if I'm
venting a little since this should be an EASY fix.

thanks in advance,

Frank
