Relocation of Public Folders

Can Public Folder be reloacted like personal folders? When I click on the
locatin tab in properties I see the current location but can not change it.
There is no move button to select and I cann't change the location manully.

Re: Relocation of Public Folders

Which 'Public' folders?
Public Documents, Downloads, Music, Videos, Pictures...all have a functional
"Location" Tab for me.

They have a different set of security permissions to the personal folders.
May have to play around with those.

You may also need need to be careful since there are number of junctions to
them

eg in
c:\ProgramData
+
c:\Users\All Users
+
c:\Users\Public\Documents

etc

But on mine, Favourites and Recorded TV do not have Location tabs.

This is annoying as Recorded TV is a folder that I really want to move off
my RAID 0 array, as the hidden Recording temp folder is just wearing out the
drives unnecessarily. I want to move this folder on a large cheap drive
that I don't care about if it fails.

Recorded TV doesn't seem to be in the same "class" as other Public
Folders -- there's no entry for it under:

"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\User
Shell Folders"

and it can be moved with no problem.

I think you can move the folder, and then change registry references in the
following locations:

"HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media
Center\Service\Recording"

LastRecordPathSet
RecordPath

"HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media
Center\Service\Video\Tuners\DVR\IO\Writer"

DVRDirectory

As for the public, 'Favorites', I've never seen anything saved there, nor
can I find anywhere that its contents are displayed.
