vista does not show 4GB memory

Hi,

I am running Vista enterprise on Dell optiplex 745. I added 4Gb memory . The
bios recognizes full 4gb however vista shows only 3GB . I also added /PAE
switch to BCDedit according to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929580/en-us.
Still its showing 3GB.
Any ideas ?

Thanks

Asked and answered repeatedly, do a bit of searching of the forums.

Geez ----------
As per DaveB`s last post in answer to your query - he is not being rude but
this topic has been dragged out for months and months.Kindly consider a
little " searching " on this newsgroup. You will find tons of posts directly
addressing your question. In fact, there were posts yesterday concerning
this situation. JRH.

Re: vista does not show 4GB memory

32bit Windows shows the user space but hides the system space. You should
not add /PAE. That is not its purpose. When you have more than 3GB of ram
the system reserves ram and hides it to prevent user programs from
corrupting the system.

Re: vista does not show 4GB memory

Maybe if they (MS) reported actual memory installed instead of how the system
is using it there wouldnt be thousands of threads on the topic. Most users
are not programmers!

Some words of wisdom for the developers
