| | MDAC I am currently running Vista Home Premium. I have tried to run a program from a CD and I am getting that MDAC_typ.exe needs to run. I've downloaded it. Ran it. And it will not install. I can't run my software without it. Is this something to do with Vista? What options do I have. This software is very important. |

Have you checked with the software vendor for info on whether it can run on Vista? -- Rock [MVP - User/Shell] |

It was made just a few months ago. But I guess I'll have to check on the compatibility. I am just amazed that Vista won't run an XP program. |

| | Re: MDAC Be more amazed that the software vendor is requiring MDAC be installed rather than checking to see if it needs to be installed. When Windows XP came out with a newer version of MDAC a number of folks "broke" their installers on it also since they tried to install an older MDAC version and it would fail. -- Richard G. | | Re: MDAC It looks like MS "broke" their own installer with the new MDAC. Can't install VB6 SP5 on Vista because of an MDAC error. Then I try to run the MDAC 2.6 by itself to no avail.
