What's keeping hard drive so busy?

I have indexing service turned off and nothing is running that's using the
HD. Yet, sometimes the HD will sit there for a while spinning. This system
has two HDs and it sounds like I'm moving large files from one HD to the
other. The HD is constantly spinning & crunching. What else could be
keeping it so busy?

There are two E6600 CPUs and they are usually at one or two percent but jump
every few seconds to 8 - 25%.

Thanks,
Brett

Take a look at the Disk section in Reliability and Performance Monitor to
see what the action is. From Start | Reliability and Performance, click on
it, in the right pane expand the Disk and CPU sections to see what processes
are invoking what file access.

stupid idiotic Windows one that gives no detail at all.. how retarded that
was.. think M$ must have some real morons in their design department.

Post a new thread with your question, don't hang it on as a reply to someone
else's thread. Maybe search Help and Support for defragmentation? Your one
of those that likes to sit mesmerized and watch the colored blocks jiggle
and move, eh?
