Vista - Vista Install fails during completing upgrade

When I install vista all goes well until I get to completing upgrade the
computer restarts at about 60% and then blue screens and restarts
immediately. The only thing it lets me do is rollback to xp, I have the
latest bios for my computer they only thing I haven’t done is update to the
vista drivers and I doubt that xp would like those.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Not sure if this will help with your problem, but if you have a usb external
hard drive plugged into your system it can cause Vista to fail on startup.

I have exactly the same problem although I only get to about 52%. It appears
that its a driver issue as I installed Vista upgrade as a clean install on
another hard drive to see if it was a hardware issue but it worked fine. I
tried removing all the drivers for any hardware I could think of that would
still allow the computer to run but this failed to sort the problem.

do a Cold Boot (reset the machine) > Start the computer, when the Windows
Boot Manager is displayed, select Windows Setup press F8 on your keyboard
and setup should continue.

disable any external or USB based devices you might have attached to the
computer. Also, disable any Security software before launching setup and
ensure that you meet the minimum system requirements for Windows Vista.

Turn Off Serial Key Devices: Windows Vista does not support Serial Key
devices. If you are upgrading and you currently use Serial Keys with an
alternative input device, you must turn off Serial Keys and install another
input option before the upgrade. To turn off Serial Keys in Windows XP, open
Accessibility Options in Control Panel. For more information, go to the
Microsoft Accessibility website (http://www.microsoft.com/enable).

usually when this occurs, it's a video card compatibility issue, so make
sure you graphics card is vista compliant.
