| | SHIFT not working-Vista Remote Desktop Client I am experiencing the following issue when using the Remote Desktop Client included with Windows Vista: The "Control" and "Shift" keys do not function in any remote session in either: a) Windows Small Business Server 2003; b) Windows 2003; c) Windows XP Professional; d) Windows Vista Ultimate. Thinking that the issue was with my particular Vista computer, I installed Vista on another computer with totally different hardware specifications... same issue, no "Shift" or "Control" key functionality in Remote Desktop sessions viewed on the Vista computer. I have tried searching the Microsoft KB and newsgroups and have found nothing on this. I have used my best Google-ing skills to no avail... Are any of you experiencing this with your Vista clients (a simple test by typing into Notepad on the remote computer will be all you need to do)? A workaround is to use "StickyKeys" or the "On-Screen Keyboard" but having the intended functionality of these keys would be preferred... ;-) Thank you, Mark |

| | RE: SHIFT not working-Vista Remote Desktop Client Ok... I have a solution to the issue I reported: My user type is not an "administrator" but rather a standard "user". To get the Vista Remote Desktop Client to allow the Shift and Alt keys to work (and also to give the mouse the capability to drag and drop) I had to set the program shortcut to "Run As Administrator"... That's it... I hope this post helps someone else who is experiencing this issue in the future.
