RUN.. Don't Walk from AOL

I cringe when people want to put AOL on their systems. It is nothing but a
resource hog, they install software that pushes ad's on you, pushes their
products down your throat and is 100% deceptive. Also, if you sign up for
ther so called FREE trial period, just try to get them to stop charging your
credit card. I dare you!

I would rather go back to DOS than to use AOL

I use AOL with no problems. In my experience, it has much better spam and
virus protection than any other email software.
Sure they pop up some ads since they made it completely free. It seems the
only way to provide good software with 24/7 support is to sell some
advertising.
Why would you need a trial period or credit card charges, unless you're
trying to scam around for free ISP on dialup?
Get high speed and stop whining.

Re: RUN.. Don't Walk from AOL

It doesn't have much to with Vista but I wanted to make sure that people who
use VISTA don't use AO-HELL, so it has a little bit to do with helping
people when they use VISTA. HELLOOOO. Now go play in the sandbox.

Look at the hundreds of other posts that have nothing to do with Vista.
Actually one moron was talking about his job at the Post Office.

Re: RUN.. Don't Walk from AOL

You ask why you would need a trial period? Because AOL advertises that they
offer a free trial period and if you really don't like AOL you have the
RIGHT to cancel, but AOL wants your money so they go ahead and charge your
credit card, over and over again. Read the posts. That is illegal and
immoral.

True there are some people who want to scam AOL but there are thousands who
want to try it and when they see how much it sucks, then they want nothing
to do with it. They want it removed and not to be charged. Simple.

I'm just trying to warn people about their deceptive practices.

RUN, don't walk from AO-HELL

Again, why are you paying them anything? Are you trying to use them for a
30 day dial-up ISP because you're too cheap to get high speed?
You do know their software is FREE now, and they only charge you to connect
to the internet if you use their dialup. I'm sure any other ISP would do
the same. If you signed up for that and called in time to cancel and got a
charge, maybe you called at the last second and they didn't get the charge
stopped. If you called within a specified free period limit and they did
charge you, all you have to do is call and tell them and you should get a
credit back to your card, like anyone else would do. Charging is not an AOL
problem, it's an ISP problem that scammers looking to switch ISP every 30
day for free internet will get now and then.

If you don't like the software, don't use it, but I think it does a great
job. I hardly ever get spam on it, while my work email on Outlook with a
spam filter program gets a ton.

Re: RUN.. Don't Walk from AOL

I haven't used AO-HELL in years and I would never ever use it again. Only
people who don't know how to navigate, need hand holding, are beginners, who
don't know any better use AO-HELL. If you read some of the links on the
post that I provided, you would know that people didn't cancel at the last
minute. Charging is an AOL problem because they are doing it to thousands
and thousands of members and former members. Read the statistics.

You ask why are you paying them anything. First it's not me, but for the
thousands who DO NOT want to pay anything, they don't have a choice because
AO-HELL charges them even though they say Cancel. Go figure. You are in a
cush, cloud of AOL and nobody will change your mind. Keep surfing the
AO-HELL way and enjoy yourself. You don't know any better. But if I can
save one person from being SUCKED into their deceptive practices, then this
post was worth it.

Wow, you haven't used AOL in years and you don't like it? Then I guess you
ARE the biggest moron on the planet. Ever think the software may have
improved since you last tested it?

Charges are a problem for a lot of companies. I used to have a bank account
with a certain major bank who got bought out by another bank. Then a charge
appeared on my statement and they said it's because they changed all their
account types when they got bought out and didn't bother to convert my free
account to another free account, and they credited my account for the fee.
They said they would fix it and I wouldn't be charged the next month, but
they didn't and I was.

If you had a personal experience, I could say I feel your pain, but for you
to say you haven't dealt with them in years and you want to scream and whine
about a common problem they're supposedly having all I can say is seek
professional help.
