Vista - Vista, IE 7, and Outlook Web Access

Vista, IE 7, and Outlook Web Access

After installing Vista, I can no longer use Outlook Web Access with IE 7.
More specifically, you cannot compose new e-mail or reply to e-mail. I must
use Firefox to use OWA.

One "solution" caused even greater problems. I tried to install the OWA
s/mime control. Afterwards, I could compose and reply to e-mails -- until I
hit the send button. Doing so crashes IE 7. Even worse, you cannot simply
uninstall the s/mime control using the "Add or Remove Programs" applet in
Control Panel. Instead, you must type in two obscure commands using the
command prompt with administrative privileges. Not good.

Does anyone know if there is a solution or workaround to this problem that
involves using IE 7 rather than Firefox? I prefer using IE to access OWA,
although even the Firefox solution is better than no solution at all.

Thanks
Ken

Re: Vista, IE 7, and Outlook Web Access

Hi Ken,

There is an update that the OWA admin must apply to the mail server to
resolve this. Forward this link:

Re: Vista, IE 7, and Outlook Web Access

Thanks. I had e-mailed that link to the OWA administrator (who has done
nothing with it). I was hoping that I could also find a solution or
workaround from the client end besides Firefox.

Re: Vista, IE 7, and Outlook Web Access

Hi Ken,

It's not something you can fix or workaround from your end, it has to be
fixed at the host.

Re: Vista, IE 7, and Outlook Web Access

Dang it. That's pretty much what I concluded from my own research of the
problem. I was hoping that I had missed something. Usually I never miss.

RE: Vista, IE 7, and Outlook Web Access

Hi,

I was wondering if you could share the two obscure commands to type at the
command prompt and if hopefully, it worked for you to remove the s/mime
control?? I'm having the same exact issue as you on both points - I can't
uninstall it through add/remove and my admin will not apply the patch b/c
they don't support Vista and me being able to use OWA from home is a "perk",
not a given. Thanks!
